Lately I have been collecting so many necklaces. I’ve never been a huge jewelry person until recently. I needed to organize the new collection. I didn’t want to buy something that wouldn’t fit the look of our room, or anything that looked too bulky. I decided I could make something. After researching, I found that I could easily turn a frame into a necklace holder.
I’m blessed to have many antique/ flea market buildings in our town. I love going to them. So, I took a trip to one that I had a few minutes to spare on my own, and really searched for a cool frame. I was wanting a vintage look. I really hit the jackpot, because I found the perfect one and it wasn’t that expensive.
First, I removed the picture. Small nails were holding the picture in place. It took me a long time to get them out because they were so old .
Onto the paint! I chose chalk paint. I had never used it before and wanted to try it out on this for a trial run. I’m so glad I did! I used FolkArt “sheepskin” , and I put two coats on the frame to get a nice covered look. After drying, I put a clear wax on it to make it glossy. It really turned out nice!
I ran into a dilemma. I needed hooks but wasn’t able to get to the store and really wanted to finish this project. So out to the garage I went. I ended up finding small nails and painted them the same color as the frame. At first I thought it was going to look so stupid, but decided I didn’t care! It ended up being really cute, and served its purpose.
Here is the final product!
I love it <3.
